Whether the scene is front lit, back-lit or when using it in low light the auto focus performance is a s good as any lens in the system. Having used this lens in day light and low light situations equally, I have never faced any auto-focus related issues. The front lens is concave and lets in a good amount of light in the corners despite the small diameter.

I have yet to test the E-M1, as I am hoping it will fit my hands better than the E-M5 which is way too small for my very large hands. And coming a long time after Panasonic version, I think the best strategy was that of offering a less expensive alternative. This means you can keep your lens looking smart, even if you don't want to take the hood with you, if that's important to you, of course. I was extremely happy with its performance as a portrait lens, but it was not an everyday walk around lens. The bokeh is not quite as smooth…but if that is not your only quality it will hardly be noticeable most of the time. Weather sealing, lens function button, sure-handed handling, perfect manual focus, instant autofocus, and gorgeous colors. After using the bundled Olympus 14-42ez kit lens with my Olympus OMD-E-M10 for quite some time (my opinion about the Olympus 14-42mmez kit lens can be found here) I bought the excellent Sigma 60mm f2.I agree with the review done on this page, there are not many on the market relatively accessible and quality options. I do not condone nor can I be held responsible for reader comments published on this blog; they are the sole responsibility of the reader making the comment. The lens seems very nice in terms of sharpness and specially the bokeh but one thing is nagging me: there seems quite a lot of bokeh fringing, specially in the shirts hangers shot, like the purple fringing in the foreground bokeh and green in the background bokeh.

Nice work, did you prefer using the OM-D E-M1’s than your Leica and where does it fit in with your Canon’s, work wise?just to clear off some confusion, 50mm focal length in traditional 35mm format is equivalent to the M.

I have not used the Pana 25mm extensively enough to make any comments, hence I do want to do a comparison. Sonnar on my long-gone Rollei 35S, or the Minolta Rokkor 40/2 on my long-gone Leitz-Minolta CL rangefinder. As focusing is performed internally the 46mm filter thread does not rotate, which makes this lens ideal for use with graduated and polarising filters. Chromatic aberration is the lens' inability to focus on the sensor or film all colours of visible light at the same point. It isn’t the first time that I’ve noticed purple flare on Micro Four Thirds lenses but I was surprised to see that amount on the new 25mm, also because it has a special Zero Coating treatment that should reduce this kind of undesired effect. For me, it is just a little tight for how I use this kind of lens…I like something closer to 20-25mm on M43. An inner focusing mechanism assures fast and accurate auto-focusing, and because it is an MSC design, it offers nearly silent focusing operation – a great feature when shooting HD movies. If you are on a budget and love the 50mm equivalent field of view, I have no doubts about recommending this lens to you. MPB will also keep you informed about the status of your gear at every step of the way and the whole process is carbon neutral. One of the characteristics of this new lens is that only the lens at the back moves, which also contributes to better image quality.
